Summer School study in 2023

Give yourself a business boost

If you want to make an early start in your ECU Business degree, why not kick things off with some study units from November 2023?

Summer School begins on 20 November 2023 and ends on 2 February 2024, giving you time to continue into Semester 1 of 2024 in late February.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our Summer School starting in November 2023.

  • Summer School offers a wide range of Business units and is only available by attending our Joondalup Campus. It runs for 10 weeks, commencing 20 November 2023 and ending 2 February 2024. And yes, you will get a one-week break for Christmas!

Note: For new students, we'll have Orientation events running from 15-17 November.

Application submission deadlines can be found on our important dates page.

  • If you have an education agent, speak with them so they can lodge an application on your behalf through the Agent Portal. If you’ve already applied for Semester 1, 2024, your agent can change this to Summer School.

If you do not have an education agent and are from an eligible country, please apply directly through the Applicant Portal.

  • Tuition fees for Summer School units are the same as ECU's Semester 1 2024 tuition fees. As a Summer School applicant, you may be eligible for an international scholarship. This will be assessed automatically when you submit your application.

Please refer to the scholarships website for eligibility criteria.

  • If you need to complete additional English study before starting at ECU, you can package your ECU course with English through our pathway provider, Edith Cowan College. Alternatively, you can consider other English pathway providers ECU has relationships with.

The availability of an English package will depend on how many weeks of English you need, and whether this will fit into the time between now and Summer School starting in November 2023.

  • Summer School unit enrolment opens on Wednesday 13 September and closes on Friday 1 December 2023.

Please note: enrolment will only be available to you from this date if you have accepted your offer, paid your tuition fees, and received your Confirmation of Enrolment.

Complete your enrolment online through the Student Portal. More information on enrolment can be found at our Course and enrolment information page.

Course fees

Our course pages display an 'estimated first year indicative fee' to give you a guide to expected fees. This estimate is based on a typical enrolment for the first year of the course. The total cost of your course may vary, depending on what individual units you choose.

ECU offers a range of scholarships to eligible undergraduate and postgraduate international students. This includes our World Ready scholarships that can reduce your tuition fees by up to 20%.

Visas and other requirements

Student visas

Before you can apply for your new Student Visa, you must have a valid Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). ECU will provide you with a CoE once your first semester fees are paid and your OSHC is confirmed, as outlined on your letter of offer.

The Australian Government's Department of Home Affairs will require your CoE when you submit your Student Visa application.

Overseas Student Health Cover

As an international student, you'll need to get health cover before arriving in Australia. This cover is paid at the same time as you pay course fees.

Stay longer after you graduate

In November 2019, Perth received regional status from the Australian Federal Government. For international students, this means you may be eligible to stay in Western Australia for four to six years after completing undergraduate or postgraduate study.

A Post-Study Work Visa gives you the opportunity to gain more work experience in Australia and you could be eligible for skills assessments required for a Skilled Visa application.

How to apply

Before you apply for a course you've chosen, make sure you check the entry requirements, including English competency and your secondary school results. Also check our important dates page to see applications deadlines and orientation and semester start dates.

Most international students can apply directly for entry to an ECU course, but there are special arrangements for students from India, Pakistan, Nepal or a Sub-Saharan Africa country (excluding South Africa) who must apply through an ECU authorised agent.

Find an authorised agent

Authorised ECU Agents are in many countries. They are ready to assist you with your application to ECU and with your student visa requirements.

English requirements

You will need to demonstrate your English competency to enter an ECU course. Requirements can vary between courses and for undergraduate versus postgraduate study.

Secondary school results

You will also need to meet minimum requirements for secondary school results to enter an ECU course. These can vary, depending on whether you are applying for undergraduate or postgraduate study.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Here are some commonly asked questions about the application process. If you have questions relating to international travel to Western Australia, please visit our COVID-19 advice page.

  • Yes. If you've applied direct to ECU for a course, you can easily track progress through our application status check.

If you applied through an Authorised Agent you'll need to contact them about progress.

  • We welcome you as an official ECU student. You should then review our pre-departure information, attend orientation and enrol in your study units.

  • Once you've successfully accepted your offer to study at ECU, and we've confirmed receipt of the required fees, we'll issue a Confirmation of Enrolment. If required, this document allows you to apply for a student visa to study in Australia.

  • We send you an Offer Letter for a place at ECU. This will be an Offer or a Conditional Offer (you must meet the conditions of your offer), or an alternative pathway offer. The letter also includes course details, fees to pay and more.

You then need to complete the online acceptance and pay the 'Fees payable now'. This includes your first semester course fees and Overseas Student Health Cover.

  • Application deadlines can vary, depending on your course and whether you applied direct to ECU. Check the application submission dates for your chosen course, based on your circumstances.

ECU International Hotel and Resort Management graduate

The internship I completed in my final semester has been the perfect stepping stone to advance my career

I chose to study International Hotel and Resort Management at ECU because I had heard of the practical nature of the course. My lecturers were very experienced in the hospitality and tourism industry and provided real life examples and case studies to link theory with current industry practice.

I was lucky enough to take part in the Borneo study tour, and no words can describe how amazing that experience was. In my final semester at ECU, I was able to secure an internship placement. Since graduating, I have been accepted into the graduate program at Accor hotels, where I will be relocating to Broome.
